Grand fashion week took place in Riga last week. Several Estonian design and media area people visited it and they had an opportunity to examine local design and fashion works as well as meet Latvian designers and journalists.

The company of 22 Editor-in-Chief of fashion publications, bloggers and Estonian designers and other fashion and design area representatives were taken to Riga by the GloBus that was specially created and designed as the Wuruhi Baltic Design bus “the wolf bus” . The author of the interior and the conceptual side was the recognised designer Helen Sirp who mainly works in England.

Wuruhi Baltic Design bus ”the wolf bus”

The uniqueness of Wuruhi Baltic Design bus was that its external as well as internal structure showed the personalized face and content of the accessories online store Wuruhi and told its exciting story. Wuruhi, which is the only e-platform bringing together designers of the Baltic States, means a wolf in the language of the Maori of New Zealand. Powerful pack of wolves symbolises the cooperation of the Wuruhi team and designers.

According to the founder of Wuruhi.com, Pille Aasa, Latvian design and Latvian designers play an important role for Wuruhi: “They are one part of Wuruhi as a platform bringing together the Baltic designers and concept of the Wuruhi online store. I am happy to see that many of the Latvian designers share the same principle of smart shopping as we do – we do not need plenty of things, but we need single and high-quality things!

Wuruhi meeting Latvian designers at the 8 Rooms Press Showroom in Riga

We met local designers Dace Bachmann, Baiba Ripa and Sofia Lark and visited 8 Rooms Press Showroom. This is the showroom for local press that represents the designers and works of the Baltics. Such concept was innovative for all visitors from Estonia.

Wuruhi bus was visited by Tiina Kruus, Editor in Chief of Anne & Stiil; fashion stylist Merit Boeijkens and Jurgita Garbaraviciene Editor in Chief of L’Officiel Lithuania.

The trip of the design bus to Riga started from Tallinn, from the Estonian design and story-telling hotel Solo Sokos Hotel Estoria with healthy breakfast and story of the hotel. Wuruhi Baltic Design bus was not just means of transport – people who visited the fashion week in Riga had also an opportunity to peek into the bus to see the exposition of Estonian and Latvian designers that is presented on Wuruhi platform and visit the pop-up haircut chair of Balmain Hair Couture Eesti. “We wished to take a piece of Estonia with us and introduce our outstanding persons like hair jewellery designer Milli Maier, jewellery designer Kadi Veesaar and Stuudio Nahk designer Karin Kallas to other design fans.”
