Andres Labi is a designer from Estonia who represents a brand called Tie&Apron. It is an apron with a neck tie. Tie&Apron combines the distinction of a neck tie with the utility of an apron. Whether you are cooking, serving or just enjoying food, Tie&Apron turns every dinner into an extravagant moment, a sophisticated ritual that you won't forget. This is for people, who enjoy adding small special details to their everyday lives.
There are two famous quotes I follow: “Hard things take time to do. Impossible things take a little longer” (Percy Cerutty). “Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.” (Benjamin Disraeli).
I have graduated from Estonian Academy of Arts in 2000 as interior architect. I am a founder and a partner of a company called Ruumilabor (est. 2004) – a small design studio, focused on interior, product and furniture design.
I am a long-term member of Estonian designers´ associations, I have supervised design students and have conducted many design workshops.
I believe in lifelong learning. After a decade long interior design practise, I decided to take my fascination with product design to a new level and started studies at Tallinn University of Technology – at Design & Engineering in 2011, a master curriculum integrating art, design and science.
The brand Tie&Apron started off in 2013 and I have been working hard on making it a success.
Muse / Inspiration
Every moment can be inspiring if you create a positive energy around you. If you let your mind free and open yourself, things start to happen and you will recognize the inspiration when it speaks to you.
1. The best gift I have ever received…
… was a trip to New York.
2. The best style tip i ever got…
... wear glasses.
3. My favourite song…
My music preference depends on the mood I am in and can vary from Renaissance madrigals to the melodic D&B. My day can easily start with “Mazzy Star” by Common Burn and end up with “She past away” by Kasvetli Kutlama.
The message my brand carries
Magic lives in the simple things!
