SOMA is the jewellery brand established by Sofia Hallik (born in Narva, Estonia), innovative jewellery maker and PhD researcher at Estonian Academy of Arts. SOMA jewellery is best known for the perfect symmetry, tricky nature of the material, latest techniques and the use of a visually monochrome palette.
Aim of my work is represented in shameless and conscious adaptation of the conflicting concepts of handwork and machine work. At the junction of these two concepts, something truly attractive arises, that is actually a taste of our reality.
Creative director at SOMA jewellery Sofia Hallik (born in 1991) is a jewellery artist and PhD student at the Estonian Academy of Arts since 2015. Sofia has graduated from Estonian Academy of Arts with a Master's degree with cum laude in 2015 and has had four solo exhibitions, the last one took place at HOP gallery in Tallinn in winter 2017. Her work has been exhibited at international exhibitions, the latter and the most important are "European Prize for Applied Arts 2015" in Belgium, Mons; "Marzee International Graduate Show 2015" in the Netherlands; “ESTONISHING!” exhibition at Thomas Cohn gallery as a part of Munich Jewellery Week 2016 and in Brazil, São Paulo.
The message my brand carries
SOMA is a Tallinn based jewellery studio, which creates a dreamlike world since 2015. Combining modern materials with traditional techniques and street style aesthetics, SOMA jewelery is best known for vibrant and eye-catching colour/form combinations and unexpected materials. SOMA blends synthetic and rather rare materials in jewellery making together with traditional, such as precious stones, metals and wood.
