Fashion Designer

Mariliis Soobard is the designer behind Estonian brand MARIMO Fashion. All her clothes are designed to be worn by self-confident, intelligent and elegant men and women, who appreciate high-quality materials, master tailoring and personal touch in their clothes. They have fast paced life and therefore an extra need to look and feel good all day even when visiting a number of different events. Fashion design was her hobby for years. Now this hobby has grown into a private enterprise and she can still do what she loves by making people beautiful and providing work for Estonian people.

As my mother is a tailor, I started to sew for my little sister's barbies when I was 6-7 years old, at the age of 11 I already started to sew my own clothes. In the end of the high school I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer and to start my own brand. I graduated from Tallinn University of Technology with a masters at Technology of Materials, textile and garment techniques. As practice makes perfect, during the studies I worked in building up my initial clientele by already working on made-to-measure clothes and in 2010 I registered my own company and fashion brand MARIMO.

My inspiration is the life itself. For me every customer is important, but it's always good to say, that the President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, is wearing my design.

… is the engagement ring from my boyfriend.

2. The best style tip i ever got…
… I've always had my own style, so I even don't remember any style tips..

3. My favourite song and book...
I love music and I love books, both of them are very inspiring. My favourite book is “The Little Prince”, which I think every adult should read. With music it's more difficult.. Music has a big role in my life and it's hard to name one song and actually I really enjoy the moments I can play the piano or sing myself instead of listening to others.
